Along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend that a child’s first dental visit be scheduled by his/her 1st birthday. We strive to provide you and your child with a comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable experience each time that you visit our office. Our office is very open, warm and inviting and you and your child will immediately feel comfortable. During your first visit to our office we will welcome you and introduce you to our staff that will be with you for your entire visit. The first visit will include time spent teaching you and your child about oral hygiene and diet so that you can maintain a healthy dentition at home. Your child will have their teeth cleaned and the doctor will do a thorough visual exam and take x-rays as needed. At the end of the appointment the doctor will discuss your child’s oral health with you and offer any recommendations for treatment that may be necessary.
You are welcome to accompany your child at all times during your visits to our office, especially on the first visit. However, we do recommend that you allow us the opportunity to interact with your child and engage them in a manner that fosters a trusting relationship between your child and the doctor and staff. We are experts in helping children feel safe in this environment and letting them know that this is their office, their dentist and that this appointment if for them. Eventually, as your child feels comfortable with his/her surroundings, you are welcome to enjoy the quiet and serenity of our reception area at any time during the appointment. Our goal is to make your child feel comfortable enough so that he/she does not require your full time presence during the appointments. However, if you feel the need, you are always welcome to stay with your child.
